Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi, a daughter of Padma Parvati Lakshmi, was born in Chennai, India, on September 1, 1970. Lakshmi's parents split at the age two. To escape the stigma of divorce in India her mother emigrated to the United States. Lakshmi lived in Chennai with her maternal grandparents for two years, before she moved to the United States. Both her parents divorced and she was blessed with a younger halfbrother as well as a half-sister of her father. Lakshmi shares her name with the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. She was born in New York, then moved to Los Angeles with her stepfather and mother. She would return to India for a few months each year to visit her relatives. Padma Lakshmi became interested in acting in 1999. She first appeared in the movie "Figlio di Sandokan" which was which was an Italian pirate movie.
