Julia Ormond Bio

Julia (Karin), a dark, classically gorgeous British actress and social activist, was born January 4th, 1965 in Surrey. She was the fifth of five children. The privilege of being the daughter of a well-to-do technician in the lab and her mother, they divorced while she was a young girl. Julia was a student at Cranleigh High School as well as Guildford High School, both private schools. She was interested in theater, appearing in two musicals they produced. Julia's grandparents were artists, and she initially intended to be one too. However after a year at art school, she renewed her dedication to acting and transferred to Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, where she graduated in 1988. She portrayed the character Catherine in "Wuthering Heights" She later got married to Rory Edwards, an actor. She was awarded the London Drama Critic's Award in 1989 for her performance in the role of Faith Hope and Charity's "best newcomer" Julia made an immediate impact on TV as she portrayed an addict in the teen years of the TV series Traffik (1989). Her name was a cult character in the TV-movie Young Catherine (1991), where she played Catherine the Great (also featuring husband Edwards). She then portrayed the wife Nadya in the TV film Stalin (1992) which starred Robert Duvall in the title role. In 1993 she made her debut in a feature film alongside Ralph Fiennes with The Baby of Macon (1993) The Baby of Macon was an action film about a woman who gives birth to an "immaculate child". The film was followed by roles in lead or second in films such as the European biopic Nostradamus (1994) and the romantic comedy Captives (1996) which co-starred Tim Roth, and the period war drama Legends of the Fall (94). She was the subject of Brad Pitt's love as well as Aidan Quinn's. Around the time of this career growth (1994) that her marriage came to an end.
