Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff is a French actress was born on 3 May 1986. She was a student at the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris. Her role includes Loup (2009) as well as Sleepless Night (2011). She is the character Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was the daughter of a Korean mother, and a father who was French-Russian. Her father was a consul of Quebec City, Canada. Eugene Klementieff, a painter was her grandpa. Her parents picked the name "Pom" because it's like the Korean words for both "spring" and "tiger". Klementieff was a citizen of Canada for a single year. Her family had traveled extensively due to her father's job. Prior to making the move to France the family lived in Japan and on the Ivory Coast. Klementieff lost her father to cancer at age five. Her mother was also diagnosed with schizophrenia. Klementieff was raised in France by her aunt and uncle paternal. Her uncle, whom she described as "like [her] second father" was killed at the age of 18 as did her older brother, who committed suicide seven years later, this being on her birthday. Klementieff briefly attended law school following the loss of her uncle's in order to please her aunt, however she did not find the career path attractive. She also worked as an waitress in France and a saleswoman. In the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris, she began acting when she was 19. She was just two months into her studies when she was awarded a theater contest that granted the opportunity to take two years of free classes with the top teachers in the school. The first role she had in professional acting was in the French independent film Apres lui (2007), acting as the stepdaughter in the film of the main character which was played by Catherine Deneuve. The film was shot over the course of three days her scenes. Klementieff was to push another person down a staircase, but she accidentally fell to the ground. Gael Mostl kept the shot in the final film. Her first lead role was in Loup (2009) the French film that follows a tribe of reindeer herders who live in the Siberian mountains. The filming took place in a camping area, which was hours from the nearest village, where temperatures dropped to below zero.
