Paula Patton
Paula Patton is the daughter of Joyce
(Vanraden), Patton, and Charles Patton. Her father is African American, and her
mother is caucasian and is of German, English and Dutch heritage. Her family
lived on the same street as the 20th Century Fox lot when she was growing up ,
and she was a huge fan of movies from her early childhood. Her mother, also
loved good films taught in a school, as was her father, an attorney. Paula
claimed that she tried to escape when she was an infant through
"pretending" to become someone else. So it's not a surprise that she
was a part of Hamilton Magnet Arts High School productions. Her most loved role
was one of Abigail in "The Crucible". After having graduated from the
University of Southern California's summer camp, she took film classes and was
then given a 3 month task to produce documentaries for PBS. She was then hired
as a production assistant on documentaries on TV and Howie Mandel's talk-show.
Her career progressed to producing documentary segments for Medical Diaries (2000)
airing on Discovery Health Channel. Paula says that she was happy with what she
was doing, but her ambitions remained the same as when she was small so she
learned acting and switched gears to become a performer. She became a household
name in a short time and was featured in Hitch (2006), Idlewild (2006) as well
as Deja Vu (2006) as the female leading lady.
