Sofia Margarita Vergara, Spanish: was born July 10 1972. She is an actress, presenter, producer, model, and TV presenter from Colombia. Vergara was the highest-paid female actress on American television between 2013 and 2020. Vergara rose in prominence in her role as host of two shows on Univision's Spanish-language TV network in the mid-90s. Chasing Papi (2003) was Vergara's first major acting project in English. In the following years, she was a part of Four Brothers (2006) and Tyler Perry's comedy Come to Jail (2008). She was nominated for an ALMA Award for the former. She first played Gloria Delgado–Pritchett in ABC's comedy series Modern Family, for which she was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards and eleven Screen Actor Guild Awards. She also voiced characters in animated films Happy Feet Two (2011). Escape from Planet Earth (2013). and The Emoji Movie (2018). Vergara was also the highest paid Hollywood actress in 2020 [citation required[citation needed]. Vergara is an American judge on America's Got Talent since 2020. Vergara was the daughter of an Roman Catholic family from Barranquilla. Vergara's mom Margarita Vergara was a homemaker and her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo was a cattle rancher. Her five siblings and many of her family members were known as "Toti". Vergara initially studied dentistry for three years at the National University of Colombia, however she decided to leave two semesters short of completing her degree to pursue modeling opportunities and show business.
