Don Rickles Biography

Don Rickles, an American comedian, author and actor was born in New York. He was a well-respected and highly regarded entertainer. His quick wit and funny remarks accompanied by his genuine affection for his fans made him an irresistible combination of amusement, fun and laughter. He was a frequent participant on the celebrity roast circuit due to his incredible talent of making an insult seem funny and inoffensive. Because his insults were cruel and hurtful, he drew many attention, and the person who received the insults would have a wonderful time. He started out as a standard comedian performing rehearsed jokes however, he changed his plans after realizing that his audience was enthralled by his spontaneous insults more than his planned material. His style of comedy was adored by many people among them Frank Sinatra. He was also a star in a variety of film and TV productions. He also released two comedy albums. He was the recipient of numerous prizes, such as a Lifetime Achievement' Award at The Comedy Awards. Don Rickles was only able to land small television roles following his graduation. Stand-up comedy was his first step to make extra money. This was the time the comedian developed his 'insult comedy’ persona. The 1970s began by playing a major role in the hit movie 'Kelly's Heroes' (1970), which was starring Clint Eastwood. He was a regular in television comedies like 'The Dean Martin Roasts,' (1972), and The Don Rickles Show,' (1973). Barbara Sklar married Don Rickles on March 14, 1965. Their two children were Mindy and Larry. Their son passed away in the year the year 2011. Bob Newhart was his best friend, and he frequently went on vacations with his wife. They were a couple who appeared on many television shows together, such as "Newhart". Don Rickles was also a close acquaintance of Bob Newhart and they often spent time together on vacation in California.
